The Climate and Environment Charter for Humanitarian Organizations provides a framework for the humanitarian sector on climate and environmental action. It sets out commitments to guide humanitarian organizations to take transformative action to help reduce the impacts of the climate and environmental crises we are facing. The 500 signatories include local/national NGOs, INGOs, Red Cross Red Crescent National Societies, UN agencies, and 14 Donor/Government supporters. Informed by signatory priorities, the Charter Secretariat is supporting the sector in deepening their knowledge and capacity for advancing Charter commitments in fragile and conflict-affected setting (FCAS), including through sharing tailored guidance and knowledge sharing opportunities.

This webinar aims to create a dedicated space for knowledge-sharing and capacity building on climate and environmental action fragile and conflict affected settings (FCAS) – a common operating context for many Charter Signatories – through:

  • Introducing and raising awareness among Charter signatories on platforms and frameworks for engaging at the intersection of climate, conflict, and peace, including through the environmental peacebuilding community and the climate security space
  • Showcasing tools and resources for humanitarian and peacebuilding organizations to advance climate and environmental programming in FCAS
  • Creating space for sharing insights, challenges, and learning priorities of the humanitarian sector on climate and environmental programs in FCAS

This webinar will be co-convened by the Climate and Environment Charter Secretariat, the Community of Practice on Environment, Climate, and Peace, and is part of the Path to Ottawa event series.
